Heritage in a modern vision
Award-Winning Façade Renovation in Passau
Since 1976, the city of Passau, Germany, has awarded an annual prize for particularly successful façade renovations of historic buildings. In 2023, an outstanding project on Ludwigstrasse 14 received this special recognition.
Architect Florian Schaetz selected Stebler's Roof Access 211E DA as a high-quality and discreet solution. The roof window not only brings natural light into the historic building but also provides practical and unobtrusive access to the roof terrace. With a surface area of 7m², the roof window represents a central element of the renovation.
The building is located on one of the most beautiful historic streets in Passau. Ludwigstrasse 14 is surrounded by late medieval, four-storey residential and commercial buildings, whose façades were largely built in the 19th century. Stebler’s dormer windows integrate harmoniously into the historic appearance of the building, contributing to the preservation of the protected historic ensemble in the old town.
Through this comprehensive reconstruction, the historical value of the building has been preserved while modern solutions have been seamlessly integrated. The project stands as a successful example of the fusion of old and new.
We extend our sincere thanks to Architect Florian Schaetz and the award organisers for their recognition of this project. Stebler is proud to contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of this beautiful city.
